Is conservative religious involvement inherently harmful for same-sex attracted people? If people have distress over their same-sex attractions or behavior, which approaches are reliably helpful and which may be most harmful?
I'm excited to present this interview with Dr. Christopher Rosik, clinical psychologist and researcher, to discuss a couple studies he co-authored using the data from the 4 Options Survey, which gathered an abundance of data from people with same-sex attraction! (And this survey was conducted by an ideologically diverse group of researchers!) One study examined the effect of religiousness on internalized homonegativity and depression, anxiety, and poor physical health outcomes. We then take a deeper look into a study about the array of methods people may use to address distress over their SSA, seeing the differences in chances of helpfulness and harm among LGB-identified, non-LGB-identified, theologically conservative, theologically non-conservative, and ...
I've been noticing over the past few years this trend in my town of people leaving out their Halloween decorations way past October . . . particularly lawn skeletons. What is the symbolic meaning of this phenomenon? Here are my thoughts.

Here's an addendum to my story of discrimination in graduate school for offering counseling to people with unwanted same-sex attraction. What is my advice to students pursuing a career in the helping professions (psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, etc.)? Seek and speak the truth no matter what. Here's why (featuring words from Jordan Peterson and M. Scott Peck).

I recorded this video on 6/25/25, the 10th anniversary of receiving the email that changed my life. I was four weeks away from finishing my year-long internship and graduating with my master's in counseling psychology. Then, the head of the internship program at Chestnut Hill College emailed me to stop my internship immediately because of my work with men coping with unwanted same-sex attraction. I've told my story in different venues before, including an article for the Journal of Human Sexuality, but here is the full story . . . with no censorship or redactions.
