While on vacation recently, I visited my parents' new church, and the sermon was about prosperity. As I listened, I considered the implications for the work we do with men and women struggling with sexuality issues. The accusation we often face is that ex-gay ministry is a form of the "Prosperity Gospel." We are right to reject this mischaracterization, but we sometimes fail to acknowledge that God actually does want us to prosper! So, here are my reflections on how this sermon on financial prosperity relates to sexual integration and wholeness.

Here's an addendum to my story of discrimination in graduate school for offering counseling to people with unwanted same-sex attraction. What is my advice to students pursuing a career in the helping professions (psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, social work, etc.)? Seek and speak the truth no matter what. Here's why (featuring words from Jordan Peterson and M. Scott Peck).

I recorded this video on 6/25/25, the 10th anniversary of receiving the email that changed my life. I was four weeks away from finishing my year-long internship and graduating with my master's in counseling psychology. Then, the head of the internship program at Chestnut Hill College emailed me to stop my internship immediately because of my work with men coping with unwanted same-sex attraction. I've told my story in different venues before, including an article for the Journal of Human Sexuality, but here is the full story . . . with no censorship or redactions.

Here's my recap and reflection on attending First Love Unbroken's inaugural Surrender conference, along with my presentation on Competent and Compassionate Counseling for Unwanted Same-Sex Attraction. (I'm sincerely sorry for going way past my time!) There were three events in three locations in southern NJ: the dinner at Lake Lenape, the conference at Stockton University, and all-day Christian hip hop concert and outreach at the Atlantic City boardwalk. I was excited to meet several people and make some new friends. Overall, this was a very encouraging time.
