I'm kicking off my series of interviews with seasoned ex-gay veterans with one of my heroes, Joe Dallas! (Recorded 1/4/23.) Joe is a very well-known counselor, author, and past-president of Exodus International, the former network of ministries for sexuality strugglers. We also both serve in ReStory Ministries, which resources the church to address LGBT issues and minister to sexuality strugglers. In this interview, we dive into his personal story of salvation, ministry, backsliding into gay activism, then back to orthodoxy, and being called to counsel others leaving homosexuality. He dispels myths about Exodus and ex-gay ministry, and shares his heart for the future.

September 25-27, 2025, I had the immense honor of being at the American Association of Christian Counselors World Conference in Nashville, TN, and co-presenting with Dr. Christopher Rosik, one of my fellow board members on the Alliance for Therapeutic Choice and Scientific Integrity! We presented on Censoring Christian Sexuality: Insights from the Trenches. In my portion, I outlined the Christian vision of sexuality and then the major factors why there is opposition to Christian sexual morality and Christian sexuality counseling, and why there are so many divisions within the church on the topic. For the sake of time, I had to chop a lot. So, here's a more thorough teaching, diving into philosophy, culture dynamics, and Moral Foundations Theory.

On Oct. 7th, the US Supreme Court heard oral arguments for the Kaley Chiles v. Salazar case involving a Christian counselor challenging Colorado's ban against "conversion therapy" for minors. This is a huge case for those of us who have been fighting for therapeutic choice since the first state ban in California passed in 2012.
