PsychoBible
Welcome to PsychoBible, babbling about psychology and theology!

I'm Andrew Rodriguez, a Christian therapist, speaker, and former youth pastor. In my counseling, I specialize in sexual and relational issues. PsychoBible is my outlet for discussing ideas about the intersection of Christianity and psychology, especially regarding sexuality and cultural issues.

Some topics to expect: Theology of the Body, therapy for unwanted same-sex attraction, and the culture war.

Ugly Laws and the Disability Lens for LGBTQ

How do we best care for neighbors with ongoing difficulties with normativity? In this two-part video, we explore the social stigma and shame endured by people with chronic medical conditions and disabilities, as well as the complications in determining society's and the church's approach to helping them function and flourish in community. In part 2, we will use part 1's discussion to examine the pros and cons of the "disability lens" adopted by proponents of Side B "gay Christianity."

"Bodies Play Sports, Not Identities" | The Dualism of Gender Ideology

In support of Arizona's bill, HCR 2003, former college volleyball athlete Kaylie Ray said, "bodies play sports, not identities." I 100% back Kaylie's stand against the male infiltration of women's spaces, but let's discuss the terminology that we've allowed to be dictated by gender ideology. How does the Christian worldview understand the relationship between the body and identity, between the physical and spiritual?

Iryna Zarutska, Charlie Kirk, and Lawlessness: Parallels with Judges 19-21

Ever since the slaying of Iryna Zarutska on August 22, 2025, and especially after the assassination of Charlie Kirk on September 10, 2025, the words from the final story in the book of Judges have been on my mind: "'Such a thing has never been seen or done, not since the day the Israelites came up out of Egypt. Just imagine! We must do something! So speak up!" In this video, I analyze the horrendous story of the Levite and his concubine in Judges 19 and the civil war in Israel that followed her murder, showing parallels to our current culture war. BE WARNED: this is a very brutal discussion!

Having an Open Heart to the Brokenhearted and Homeless | Interviewing My Parents

In honor of my parents' birthdays (Dec. 16 and 17), I interview them to discuss Open Heart Ministry, their service to the homeless and displaced in Myrtle Beach, SC. Luis and Marilyn Rodriguez are chaplains with years of experience doing lay ministry and pastoral work, such as mission trips, prison ministry, helping people in addiction recovery, teaching ESL and GED training, and caring for the elderly. I admire my parents for always being open to the Holy Spirit leading them to show people their worth.
